LED-pumped Nd:YAG laser: frequency conversion from visible to mid-infrared region

An LED-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is demonstrated to achieve mJ output pulse energy and ns pulse width. The progress of the LED module design is discussed. The laser can be successfully applied for nonlinear frequency conversion from visible to mid-infrared region via second harmonic generation and optical parametric oscillation.
