A search for dark matter (DM) particles is performed using events with a pair of bottom quarks and missing transverse momentum. The analysis used proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 f-1. The search is performed in the final state with large missing transverse momentum and 1 or 2 b-tagged jets. Major backgrounds from electroweak vector boson production in association with jets and pair production of top quarks are predicted via a simultaneous fit of signal and respective control regions. No significant excess is observed. Limits are set on the DM production in the context of two Higgs doublet model with an extra light pseudoscalar (2HDM+a). This is the first result from CMS which probe the DM production phase space using bottom quarks in context of 2HDM+a.
