Nanoscale materials have attracted great interests in recent years. Low dimensional systems such as 2D materials, nanoparticles, nanowires, nanowalls or nano-networks are fascinating examples of nanostructured materials with great potential as important components for nanoscale devices with various interesting functions. Among the wide range of physical properties, the optical and fluorescence properties of these nanomaterials present a rich play-ground for fundamental investigation. For this, fluorescence microscope is a critical piece of instrument that is heavily utilized to study these systems. In this presentation, we aim to describe how fluorescence microscope and other related techniques that made use optical microscope have served as the workhorses in our venture into the Nanoworld.
